The Atlanta Pride Festival itself is jam-packed with events, but there are plenty of other pride-themed happenings around the city as well
Atlanta Pride is back this weekend for its 54th year with a jam-packed series of events celebrating the city’s LGBTQ+ community. The festival’s main events are free and open to all ages, including live entertainment and a vendor marketplace in Piedmont Park both days, and the parade on Sunday, which kicks off at noon and travels up Peachtree Street to 10th Street, ending in the park.
Here are a few other fun events to add to your calendar for Atlanta Pride 2024.
For Adults
Coming Out Day Celebration at Bookish Bookstore
When: Friday, October 11, 3:30-6:30 p.m.
Where: Bookish Bookstore, East Atlanta Village
Cost: Free
Details: Friday is National Coming Out Day, and the EAV bookstore Bookish is celebrating with an afternoon party featuring mocktails, music, and rainbow cake. There will be Pride merchandise for sale, such as pins, flags and stickers, as well as a huge selection of LGBTQ+ literature for kids and adults of all ages.
Second Friday Pride Party
When: Friday, October 11, 8 p.m.-2 a.m.
Where: Wild Leap Atlanta brewery, downtown
Cost: $25-$30 GA, $50 VIP
Details: Second Friday, one of Atlanta’s signature parties for queer women, will host its pride party on Friday night. Enjoy an all-night dance party hosted by DJ Kaory, food trucks, beer and craft cocktails, plus pride-themed slushies and rainbow jello shots.
Bottoms Up Drag Brunch with Mirage from RuPaul’s Drag Race
When: Saturday, October 12, 12:30 p.m.
Where: City Winery Atlanta, Old Fourth Ward
Cost: $25-$70
Details: If you love drag shows and you love brunch, you’ll definitely love Wussy’s pride weekend drag brunch at City Winery this Saturday. The show will feature performances by RuPaul’s Drag Race veterans Mirage and Nicole Paige Brooks, as well as a bevy of talented drag performers. Pair your meal with wine from City Winery’s award-winning list or a cocktail from the full bar.
Electric Circus Party by My Sister’s Room
When: Saturday, October 12, 10 p.m.-3 a.m.
Where: Domaine, Midtown
Cost: $30-$50
Details: Atlanta’s lesbian bar—one of the last in the country—is well-known for its high-octane pride celebrations. On Saturday night, they’ll host their official pride party at Domaine, down the street from My Sister’s Room. DJ Cristy Lawrence will spin beats throughout the night, along with a suite of entertainment that includes fire shows, aerialist performances, a burlesque revue, and celebrity appearances from Tif Der of the hit Netflix show The Ultimatum: Queer Love. MSR hosts other pride parties throughout the weekend at its own location on Crescent Avenue.
Fox Theatre Pride Parade Viewing Party
When: Sunday, October 13, beginning at noon
Where: Rooftop of the Marquee Club at the Fox Theatre
Cost: $75-$100
Details: With its location smack dab on Peachtree Street, you can’t get a better parade view than from the Fox Theatre. The famous venue will host a rooftop watch party from the top of its Marquee Club, hosted by local drag performer Ella Saurus Rex with beats from DJ Gorp. There will be hearty hors-d’oeuvres and a cash bar. Reserved VIP tables are available for additional purchase.
For Teens & Young Adults
You(th) Belong at PRIDE
When: Saturday, October 12, noon to 5 p.m.
Where: Piedmont Park Picnic Pavilion
Cost: Free
Details: Inside the Family Fun Zone, the You(th) Belong program—a project by the LGBTQ Institute at the National Center for Civil and Human Rights—will host a hang out spot just for teens and young adults. There will be art supplies for drawing posters for youth to display during Sunday’s parade; young participants are also invited to march with NCCHR in Sunday’s parade.
GSSC Youth Pride Kickback
When: Saturday October 12, 6-11 p.m.
Where: Neighborhood Church, Candler Park
Cost: Free
Details: The Georgia Safe School’s Coalition will host a free LGBTQ+ affirming evening for teens 13 to 18. There will be a dance party, queer-themed Jeopardy and other games, an arts and crafts station, a drag closet full of wigs, dresses, and other accessories, plus a screening of the not-too-spooky film I Saw the TV Glow.
For Little Ones
Family Fun Zone
When: Saturday October 12, 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Sunday October 13, 1-5 p.m.
Where: Piedmont Park Picnic Pavilion
Cost: Free
Details: Atlanta Pride’s official Family Fun Zone offers a safe space for kids and families. There will be face-painting, arts and crafts, games, and a pop-up library. On Saturday from 12 to 1 p.m., the Family Fun Zone will host a drag story hour, hosted by local performer Shi, and there will also be a visit from cast members of The Lion King, currently on stage at the Fox Theatre.
