The Third Man is a 1949 British FILM NOlR directed by Carol Reed, written by Graham Greene, and starring Joseph Cotten, Alida Valli, Orson Welles, and Trevor Howard. Set in postwar Vienna, the film centres on American Holly Martins (Cotten), who arrives in the city to accept a job with his friend Harry Lime (Welles), only to learn that Lime has died. Viewing his death as suspicious, Martins elects to stay in Vienna and investigate the matter.
In 1999, the British Film Institute voted The Third Man the greatest British film of all time. In 2011 a poll of 150 actors, directors, writers, producers and critics for Time Out magazine saw it ranked the second best British film ever.

Subject: shut up people
Movie slightly marred by " Absurd" anti zither music dum dums coments and what ever the hell it progressed / regressed to after that, same old shit arguments on all sides, pride and pomp in something you had no part in. Anyway, as the comments are about the film, it is a wonderful piece of art, a great female director and a killer cast.
Come on you macho ball bag 6th form radicals, who wasn't slightly tingling when the light exposes orson in the door way...........film noir yes, it takes one British film noir to out rank all American ones.
Dunno where the Nazi /Adolf top trumps, Jewish and zither (no guitar..tit!!!) contributors felt they needed to use it as a platform......again zzzzzz, fuck off facists, right wingers and liberals.....Art was never yours!!!
A wonderful film but alas from the coments section (including me for even rising to it) a shit audience as usual

Every movie of this period carried a anti-Nazi theme.
Wells should have done a movie on “Judea Declares Boycott on Germany” NYT 1913.
Hey! Hitler wasn’t even old enough to enlist in WWI because it was 3 years away!
